Security Officer

  • The role of a security guard is to ensure public safety; safeguard, patrol, monitor, protect, and maintain the security and safety of personnel and property. Responsible for providing the employer with a safe environment, report any sort of disturbance, limit and prevent unauthorized activities, including but not limited to trespass, forcible entry or intrusion, vandalism, pilferage, theft, arson, abuse and/or assault, writing daily reports and maintain an updated log book.

Reports To: 

  • Shift Supervisor

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Patrol industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security.
  • Provide clear direction, information and assistance to visitors, contractors, contingent workers and employees.
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft, unauthorized entrances and maintain security of premises.
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, unusual occurrences and maintain up to date log books.
  • Operate X-Ray machines and/or magneto meters to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited items into restricted areas.
  • Be able to communicate effectively and provide people with answers or directions if needed. Good communication skills are vital.
  • The ability to use your initiative and make quick decisions to deal with unexpected situations.
  • Operate CCTV equipment and maintain surveillance on all entrances and exits utilizing card access systems.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Requirements:

  • Licensed Security Officer (as required by state or municipality)
  • High School diploma or the equivalent, GED.
  • CPR/AED and basic first aid trained responders are a plus.

 

FIRE SAFETY DIRECTOR LEVEL I

  • Performs a variety of fire and life safety related functions as it pertains to Local Law 5 and Local Law 26.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct fire drills, evacuations and related activities such as organizing, training and supervising a fire brigade.
  • Implement the building’s Fire Safety Plan in the event of an emergency.
  • Acting as a liaison between building personnel and the FDNY in the event of an emergency.
  • Directing the evacuation of occupants as provided for in the fire safety EAP plan.
  • Assisting all emergency service personnel entering the building on official business and reporting details to Mulligan as soon as practical.
  • Supervising and training the Fire Brigade, FS/EAP Wardens, Deputy FS/EAP Wardens and Building Evacuation Supervisors.
  • Maintaining records and logs as required by law.
  • Conducting, supervising, and evaluating fire and emergency drills.
  • Provides information to the Fire Department: Location of fire or emergency, evacuation of occupants from and to locations, problems with building systems or occupants.
  • Demonstrate ability to make clear and audible public address announcements.

Knowledge:

  • Command of the English language.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record in managing staff.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Level 1: Possess FDNY Z-50 Certificate
  • Licensed Security Officer (as required by state or municipality)
  • High school diploma or the equivalent, GED.

 

FIRE SAFETY DIRECTOR LEVEL II 

  • Performs a variety of fire and life safety related functions as it pertains to Local Law 5 and Local Law 26.

  • Licensed Security Officer (as required by state or municipality)
  • High school diploma or the equivalent, GED.

 

FIRE SAFETY DIRECTOR LEVEL III

  • Performs a variety of fire and life safety related functions as it pertains to Local Law 5 and Local Law 26.

Fire Safety Director Level IV

  • Performs a variety of fire and life safety related functions as it pertains to Local Law 5 and Local Law 26.

  • Level 3: FDNY Certificate of Fitness F-59 FS/EAP Director
  • Level 4: Experience in a major Municipal Fire Dept., NYPD or FDNY+ Levels 2 and 3.
  • Licensed Security Officer (as required by state or municipality)
  • High school diploma or the equivalent, GED.
